To siege or be sieged... that is the question

Rainbox Six Siege is a tactical shooter that was released to great acclaim on multiple platforms. It is the latest in a well-regarded series of games under the Tom Clancy brand.
It's easy to start with what Rainbox Six Siege is not. It is not a classic Rainbow Six game. Cooperative multiplayer has taken a back seat to adversarial team games, and the single player content is all but gone. Siege is a game that's born out of the world of eSports, more of a competitor with games like Overwatch and Team Fortress 2 than a true sequel to the older games. This has naturally put some players off the game. That's a shame, though, because there's good to be found here.
Taken on its own, Siege is a fantastic multiplayer experience. It's still tightly paced and methodical, and it still calls for a great degree of skill and communication. The big change is that you primarily fight against other human opponents, and this has amped up the level of coordination necessary to truly make the game work. When you have a great team, there's nothing on the market close to the experience. If you don't, though, you'll still find yourself playing a well-made tactical shooter that should be able to hold your interest for a few rounds.
Rainbow Six Siege suffers from its title. Remove the pedigree, and you'd have a hit multiplayer game. With the name, though, comes some degree of dissappointment. If you want a great tactical shooter, this is the game for you. Just don't expect to follow the same paths you followed in the previous games.
